96-01 EK/EM1 Civic owners with the two-piece front lower control arms should choose the EG/DC2 Kit
Honed’s air guide components are simple to install, require no supporting modifications to the vehicle and will work with any combination of brake rotor and caliper
Air Guides increase the time before your brakes heat soak or fade by directing air from under the car at the brake rotor centre and toward the brake caliper.
Types of brake fade:
Long pedal
- Caused by boiled (overheated) brake fluid
- Overheated caliper
Pedal firm but car doesn’t slow at the same rate anymore
- Brake pads and rotor overheated
- Pads outside operating temperature
Both of these types of brake fade can be countered in the following ways
- By increasing the amount of heat the brakes can absorb
- By increasing the rate of heat rejection
Option 1 would be increasing the diameter and thickness of the rotors, changing to larger calipers that use thicker brake pads. This can be very expensive and often requires customs mounting brackets and often times also affects wheel fitment.
Option 2 is what our Air Guides do, they increase the rate of heat rejection of the rotor and caliper by enhancing the air cooling/airflow to and over these components.Â
Kit includes left and right hand side assemblies to suit one vehicle
Fitment notes:
- V3 duct design
- EK application suits pressed steel USA model Si style lower control arm only. Â Suits all Australian model 96-00 Civics.
- The kit mounts to the front lower control arm, so applications with swapped lower control arms should select kit to suit the appropriate control arm, such as EG/DC2 subframes fitted to EK Civic should use the EG Civic kit.
