“I have bought three booster deletes from Honed and would recommend this for any track car along with their master cylinder brace. The pedal feel is significantly better and isn’t too hard” – Travis

The benefits of deleting your brake booster for performance driving are:

  • Reduced compliance between the pedal and the master cylinder, which translates to a firm pedal feel
  • No lag between the pedal force and the pressure in the brake lines thus improved braking control
  • Reduced sensitivity, which makes modulating brake force easier
  • Weight reduction due to removing booster

Unique features of the Honed booster delete kit

  • 6:1 pedal ratio to reduce pedal effort commonly associated with manual brake conversion. This is achieved with an offset mounting location for the master cylinder and creating a new mounting hole in your brake pedal for the push rod clevis (template provided)
  • Designed to utilize OEM Honda master cylinders, which are a dual-cylinder design (safe) and are comparable quality to your original master cylinder
  • Mounts with studs, the same way as a standard Honda booster

In order to install this setup in your car you will need either a 7/8″ or 13/16″ master cylinder, depending on the size of your brake discs (see below). The size of your master cylinder will be written on the side.

OEM Master Cylinder Part Numbers

7/8″
RHD: 46100-S04-J53
LHD: 46100-S04-A14, 46100-S04-L53

13/16″
RHD: 46100-S04-J01
LHD: 46100-S04-A02

With 282mm factory front brakes or 282mm+ rotors with aftermarket calipers (Spoon, Willwood etc.) we recommend using the 7/8″ master cylinder.

With 262mm (or smaller) factory front brakes we recommend using the 13/16″ master cylinder.

We source master cylinders from a local pick-a-part wrecker where they can be had for a reasonable price, but you can also source them new from Honda.

It is perfectly fine to use our booster delete kit with the OEM proportioning valve.

If you are replacing the original booster and master cylinder from your EG and you intend to keep the OEM proportioning valve on the firewall you can reuse the factory hard lines from the OEM proportioning valve

If you are using an aftermarket proportioning valve, you may need to make new lines to suit the new master cylinder location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q) Can I use a 1″ Master Cylinder with this kit?

A) Mechanically, you could, however, there is a leverage-like effect to reducing the size of the master cylinder relative to the caliper pistons, which is of great benefit in reducing the required pedal effort and keeping a natural feeling pedal stroke.

Q) Where can I find master cylinders?

A) We can supply used RHD 7/8″ master cylinders or new aftermarket LHD 7/8″ master cylinders. You can find them here: Brake Control Category Page

Alternatively, pick-a-part wreckers are a good source, as are eBay and similar online retailers. It’s important to source master cylinders that don’t have the protruding tube on the side where the pushrod goes.

Amazing kit. It takes some getting used to, but overall not bad to daily drive. These guys have done their R&D for sure. However, if you decide to daily drive, I do recommend that you upgrade your brake pads with something that has good initial bite. (GLOC, Hawk, etc…)

Fantastic kit. Very well built and easy to follow instructions. DHL tried their best to destroy this on its way over the Pacific but it arrived with no damage. Fantastic kit, reasonable prices, great people. Can’t recommend them enough.

I installed this, along with the brace they sell, on my EG a couple weeks ago. I’ve presently got ITR front/rear calipers, and did a front/rear manual prop valve setup while I was at it. I was worried about having an excessively stiff pedal and needing to be He-Man to drive it, but it’s really totally acceptable and truly not that much different from the boosted setup apart from ditching the big initial shock from the booster.

No problems switching back and forth with other cars, braking is totally safe and predictable. All that plus Honed’s amazing support leaves me a happy customer…again!

This is a very nice looking product, as of writing this, I have not installed it because there is a lot of work to do before I get to this, it looks very well designed and constructed. Great delivery time, easy ordering, worth 5 stars.
