This product is designed for use with aftermarket engine control units (ECUs);. It is not compatible with OEM Honda ECUs, including Hondata S100/200/300.

We believe that in 2023, the advancements in ECU technology and software strongly justify the cost and effort to install a stand-alone ECU to your vehicle over using an OEM ECU.

Honda distributors from the 1990s are over 20 years old and, for all intents and purposes, discontinued.

We wanted to create a solution where spare parts would be easy to source while retaining OEM reliability.

From that concept the idea to retrofit Honda K-series cam angle sensors (actually found in many modern Honda engines) onto the older D-Series and B-series engines was born.

Key Benefits

  1. Modern aftermarket ECUs, like the Haltech Elite series, for example, allow for a 32×32 cell ignition tuning table. This significantly increases ignition timing resolution and is not dependent on the trigger tooth pattern. The Honed trigger kit is perfectly suited to allow for high-rpm trigger syncing with such ECUs. It is important to note that it’s the ECU platform, not the trigger tooth count, that impacts timing resolution. For reference, OE Honda ECUs have a 16×16 cell table and Hondatas have a 20×24 table size.
  2. The Honed Trigger Kit does not have any soldered components or microprocessors inside it. The mounting of OE Honda cam sensors is done in the same way as on its modern L- and K-Series engines.
  3. The sensors used in this kit are available in any market Honda cars are sold and can easily be found at short notice.
  4. This kit does not require any modifications to the timing belt side of your engine.
