Our EK rebuild is nearly complete. We started the car today after crossing off the last few tasks on our to do list. Quick recap, we turned up the boost, at the next event found boost was pressurising the coolant system. Now in lockdown we decided to replace the head gasket and fit ARP headstuds. Since we had it apart a few extra tasks got done. We replaced the rod bearings and installed new piston rings with a larger ring gap to suit a boosted application. Made a custom sump baffle (unique for a d series). Had the unused ports on the intake manifold welded up (thanksĀ @kam_welding_general_fab!). Made up a spare turbo oil feed line for the toolbox. While all this was happening a set of new wheels arrived from Japan and so we got those fitted with A052s. It will be interesting to see if these mods are enough to allow it to do the ~10min track sessions we typically run without pushing coolant.
